CATE SHORTLAND | BIO
Known for her strong directorial choices and bold visual style, Cate’s work is stamped with a confident individualism. In 2004 she wrote and directed her first feature film, Somersault (starring Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington), which premiered in the Un Certain Regard programme at Cannes. Following its premiere the film won multiple Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards including Best Director and Writer and was released in over fifteen countries. Cate then extended her character work directing The Secret Life of Us for Channel Ten.

Her unique storytelling ability and performance work has been utilised in TV campaigns for clients such as Nokia, Woman’s Day and the Australian Rugby Union.
